NBA commissioner Adam Silver banned LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling from the NBA for life and are in the process of forcing a sale of the team behind Sterling’s racist comments. There’s one person looking to throw a wrench in their plans however, his wife Shelly Sterling.
Shelly Sterling has been playing both sides of the battle field. After Donald’s comments surfaced, Shelly denounced his actions, referred to him as her “estranged husband” and continued to attend Clippers games wearing all black.
Then a few days ago Shelly was seen out with Donald and loudly proclaimed that he is not a racist.
Now Shelly is maintaining that she’s co-owner of the Los Angeles Clippers and is legally entitled to maintain ownership of the team and will attempt to do so even as the league fights to remove her husband after owning the team for 33 years.

Sterling described her long tenure as a “die-hard” fan of the Clippers and said she believes that the sanctions against Donald Sterling — which included a lifetime ban and $2.5-million fine — do not apply to “me or my family.” Shelly Sterling’s position presents a “wild card” for the pro basketball league as it faces its biggest crisis in memory, said a league official, who declined to be named because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the matter.
