Today’s rap generally references money. How would one acquire that? Record sales. But in some cases, it’s for the art. In 2009, Asher Roth looked to make his by way of sales. Unfortunately, his first week sales peaked at 65,000. His excuse: “My album was undershipped.”
Angel Haze… that was another story. Her album’s first week sales peaked at only 857 units. She claimed that “it leaked.”
After Soulja Boy’s “The Deandre Way” failed to reach 14,000 it’s first week. He blamed his label, saying, “My label failed to properly promote my album.”
