We’re sure that you’ve heard about Meek Mill’s civil lawsuit against the city of Philadelphia. In the first day of many to come, Meek went on the record stating that the only reason he was pulled over on Halloween night 2012, is because he’s black. He was arrested for not letting officer’s search his car. However, according to Page Six, “The city argues that police, and a trained dog, smelled marijuana in the car. However, no drugs were found and no charges filed.” More info after the jump.
“In neighborhoods like where I come from, four black males in a car, … we’re always being asked to be searched. All I was doing that night was going to work and doing what I had to do,” said Meek.
Looks like Meek may gain traction in his case. Andre Boyer, the lead officer in the arrest that included: a senior vice president of the Warner Brothers music label, an armed, off-duty Florida cop, and a close friend has since been fired. Turns out that he racked up the most civilian complaints in the department. An internal police memo shown in court Tuesday described him as a “very aggressive narcotics officer” whose reports were riddled with errors, according to Page Six.
