Amid news of Donald Sterling’s racist remarks towards black people, what was even more shocking is that he was soon to be awarded a Lifetime Achievement award from the NAACP.  What’s even worse is this would have been the second time he would get the award in six years from the LA chapter.  Of course after the backlash from the audio and the news of the pending award spreading, the NAACP has decided against it.

The interim president of the NAACP said Sunday morning that Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling will no longer receive a second lifetime achievement award that its Los Angeles chapter was going to give him next month.

Lorraine Miller made the announcement as a guest on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday morning.

“If you’re silent about this, then you are accepting this,” Miller told the show’s host, David Gregory. “And people have got to say that this is not good and do something about it.”

If you’re wondering why the NAACP would give him the award not once but twice considering his checkered past, the answer is quite simple… money/donations.
