Knicks owner James Dolan is trying to stop Phil Jackson from firing several staff members, The New York Daily News reports. Dolan told Jackson, who was hired last month as the club’€™s president, to focus his attention of building a winning team instead of making these changes, according to The News.

Jackson fired head coach Mike Woodson and his assistant coaches on Monday, clearing the way for the 11-time NBA championship coach to insert his own coach. But it seems Jackson doesn’€™t have the control Dolan said he would “€œwillingly and gratefully” give him during the Hall of Fame coach’€™s introductory news conference.

Bleacher Report reported that general manager Steve Mills, assistant GM Allan Houston and director of player personnel Mark Warkentien could all be reassigned or possibly fired.
