Back in December, a young black student from Ohio’s Fairfield Freshman School mentioned to his science teacher, Gil Voigt, that he could possibly have plans to eventually become a president in the United States. Sadly, the science teacher allegedly responded with, “we do not need another black President.” Hit the jump for more info.

After the comments were made, the student immediately notified the principal. Later, with one member missing, Fairfield’s Board of Education voted 4-0 to terminate Voigt’s employment with Butler County schools, according to NY Daily News.

Ironically, Voigt claims the student who snitched on him was a troublemaker who misinterpreted his statement. The former teacher claims to have said, “I think we can’t afford another President like Obama, whether he’s black or white.” Clearly upset, he went on to tell his local news station, “What would have happened if somebody said, ‘We don’t need a white President like Bush in the office anymore.’ You think there’d be any stink about that? Probably not.”

The troubled teacher has a history of not holding his negative thoughts towards students to himself. Either way, it’s common sense — especially as a science teacher — to keep political opinions to yourself when dealing with children.
