There are many in the world that don’t believe in the benefits of coffee. While all of the details of its benefits aren’t known, researchers are getting closer and closer to them. One great benefit is that people with a daily coffee habit were less likely to get a common type of liver cancer. Get the full scoop after the jump.
According to the study presented at the American Association for Cancer Research’s annual meeting in San Diego:
Compared with people who drank no more than six cups of coffee per week, those who drank one to three cups per day were 29% less likely to develop hepatocellular carcinoma, or HCC, which is the most common form of liver cancer. Serious coffee drinkers — those who downed four or more cups per day — were 42% less likely to be diagnosed with the disease.
The study was taken on almost 180,000 Americans — ranging from African Americans, Native Hawaiians, Japanese Americans, Latinos and Caucasian Americans — where it was revealed that coffee was the common factor regarding the diagnosis or lack thereof of cancer.
In a related statement, study leader V. Wendy Setiawan said that “We can [now] add HCC to the list of medical ailments, such as Parkinson’s disease, type 2 diabetes, and stroke, that may be prevented by coffee intake.”
