It appears Phil Jackson’s recent meeting with Lamar Odom wasn’t just two old friends catching up, as reports surface that the New York Knicks have expressed interest in signing the veteran free agent.
Odom signed a two-month contract with Laboral Kutxa Baskonia in the Spanish ACB on Feb. 18 but a back injury caused him to leave the team after only playing two games.
The Clippers and Lakers had previously shown interest in Odom but a contract never materialized. Now the Knicks are interested at the behest of their new president Phil Jackson whom Odom played for for five seasons & two championships with the Lakers.

Among the options the Knicks are considering, sources said, is signing Odom before Wednesday’s regular-season finale to a contract that includes a team option for next season.
Doing so would enable the Knicks to work with Odom throughout the offseason before deciding if he’s ready to play — physically and mentally — in time for the start of the 2014-15 season.
