Sad news in Hollywood. On yesterday child star Mickey Rooney died at age 93, which reports are attributing to natural causes….
Rooney was one of the most famous child actors of our time, playing roles such as Andy Hardy in “The Hardy Boys” in 20 films. He starred along side film legends Judy Garland in “Babes in Arms”, Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, as well as “National Velvet” with Elizabeth Taylor which was one of the biggest films of the 1940’s. In his long life the actor had accomplished much. He was the first teenager nominated for an Oscar for his leading role in “Strike Up The Band”.
Rooney appeared most recently in “The Muppets” in 2011 with Amy Adams and Jason Segal and “Night at the Museum” in 2006 with Ben Stiller. The actor was married a total of eight times, one of his wives famous film star, Ava Gardener. Rooney who had suffered from a health decline over the past few years also endured some family strife in recent years. He claimed elder abuse at the hands of his step-son Chris Aber and won a $2.8 million judgment against him last year for stealing money from his accounts.
We send our most heart felt condolences to his family. Mickey Rooney lived a long and full life, and I’m sure the contributions he made to the art of film will never be forgotten. Watch a clip below of Rooney in Night At The Museum
