The public perception of rappers often times is that they come from a neighborhood they’ve lived in their entire lives and only know about that area, but in fact – some of our favorite rappers have been well traveled since way before touring the world, as a handful of them grew up as military babies! You may be surprised at who’s been where! Check out a few below!

Marisa Mendez

Machine Gun Kelly:
MGK was born in Houston to missionary parents and lived everywhere from Egypt, Germany, Chicago, Los Angeles, Denver and eventually settled in the city he truly considers home – Cleveland. Since he lived the first four years of his life in Egypt, he spoke Arabic before English!

J. Cole:
Cole was born in the 97th General Hospital at a United States Army base in Frankfurt, West Germany, as his dad was in the army. The family would then move to Fayetteville, North Carolina – where Cole considers home – when he was a little less than a year old.

Wiz Khalifa:
Wiz was born in Minot, North Dakota while his father was in the military, and lived in Germany, the UK, and Japan before settling in where he considers home, Pittsburgh, PA.

ScHoolboy Q:
Q was born on a military base in Wiesbaden, Germany while his father was in the army. After his parents split, Q and his mom moved to Texas, then eventually settled in L.A.
