“The Walking Dead” writer-and-producer Robert Kirkman has confirmed a spin-off show to AMC’s hit zombie series.
In October 2013, AMC had revealed they were creating a spin-off show, and now Robert has confirmed the showrunner will likely reach viewers’ screens by 2015.
“After ten years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe,” he shared in a statement.
Robert, who will serve as executive producer on the spin-off, continues by saying, “The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.”
He will be teamed with “The Walking Dead” producers Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert as well.
There is not much information about plot, but it is clear characters on “The Walking Dead” will not be appearing in the spin-off. There will be new personas to drive the narrative.
It is also unknown whether it will be set in the Atlanta, Georgia area.
The season for finale airs Sunday March 30.
