It’s all fun and games until it costs you $7.5 Million! That’s exactly what happened to Sergeant Steven Gori after he was hit with a sexual harassment accusation from a fellow female officer. Check out the details after the jump.
Tanisha Ross-Paige is the female officer responsible for the bulk of Gori’s debt. She made the claims of sexual harassment not too long after her superior officer continuously came on to her. The straw that broke the camel’s back: When Gori made a mock “Wanted” poster that stated “Subject wanted for having the baddest body in the St. Louis area. Use extreme caution when approaching this subject. Approach this subject from behind for your own safety.”
Tanisha Ross-Paige, a one-time canine officer, won $300,000 in compensatory damages and $7.2 million in punitive damages from the St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners Friday in what has been described as possibly the highest verdict in such a case in Missouri’s history.
However, the jury sided with the police board on a discrimination claim.
A lawyer for Ross-Paige says that his client could potentially take home around $3,000,000 minus legal fees. Not too bad…
