Avon Global Ambassador Fergie is linking up with the State Department, Vital Voices, and certainly, Avon for a stand against gender-based violence. These groups want to make the topic a priority among the people, and are working on a new initiative to #EndGBV. Check out the announcement after the jump.
In an interview afterwards, Fergie says she wasn’t drawn to the cause because of domestic abuse in her own family or circle of friends. “Not that I know of – but finding out the statistics about it — one in three women affected in their lifetime, there’s more out there that’s unbeknownst to me about people and their stories,” she said. “I encourage women to speak up and not be shamed, to speak up so that justice can be served.”
