As elton John gears up for the reissue of his classic album, he speaks on his interest in dipping into the Hip Hop world, and collaborating with artists, but he doesn’t quite know how to go about it. John stated:

“I’d love to [incorporate hip-hop]. I just don’t know how to do it,” John said. “I’d have to work with someone who knows about it, like a Pharrell or a Kanye, who I respect tremendously. I might do a couple of tracks with Pharrell. It’s just a matter of when and where, and should I do it, the mood that I’m in. You can never tell. It’s happenstance and luck, basically.”

Elton John also discussed how impressed he was with the ‘Bennie and The Jets’ cover, with lead vocalist Miguel taking over the track and a few bars are incorporated, from a lyrical Wale in substitute for the songs piano solo.

“Miguel’s done a fantastic job,” John says. “It really makes the best of what the song is all about. And it is an unusual song. It’s not what I think is a hit record, but then that’s probably why it was a hit record, because it didn’t sound like anything else before. It’s important not to copy, and that’s what Miguel did.”
