Knicks fans will not want to hear this. It is already bad enough that Carmelo Anthony will be a free agent and places like the Lakers and Bulls have been mentioned as serious destinations for him. The Bulls have the better overall team so that seems to be the more likely place if Melo was to leave the Knicks. But now an even better team is saying they are going to go after him as well. The Houston Rockets have now thrown their hat into the Carmelo sweepstakes for this summer. The Rockets who already have James Harden, Dwight Howard and a great supporting cast would be a serious threat to win the NBA title with Melo. They are somewhat of a threat even without him. The fact that such a good team may be an option for him might be too good to pass up.

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, the Rockets even asked about Melo before the trade deadline. “According to a league source, the Rockets will make a bid for Carmelo Anthony this summer, even though they probably won’t have cap space and would have to orchestrate a creative sign-and-trade. The source said Houston asked the Knicks about Anthony before February’s trade deadline”.
