Let’s start this off by clearing something up. Kevin Durant is not saying Kobe is better than Michael Jordan. He is just saying that they are on the same level when it comes to skill. Believe me, there is a difference. In a recent interview, KD gave the Black Mamba high praise and you could tell he really means it.

“He’s the greatest of all time. His skill is second to none. Him and MJ are neck and neck as far as skill,” Durant said. “Kobe is the top two best ever in just having skill, footwork, shooting the 3, shooting the pull-up, posting up, dunking on guys and ball handling. Kobe and Jordan are 1 and 1A.” Durant even admitted to calling Kobe late night one time for advice on how to model his game.
“When you look at me, Carmelo Anthony, LeBron and Paul George, what we’ve done out there in this league is nothing compared to what Kobe did,” Durant said. “We live in a world of what have you done for me lately. We don’t remember the day before sometimes. Think back five, six, years ago what he was doing. It’s unheard of.”
In an era of egos running wild within athletes, it is refreshing that KD could be so honest about his admiration for Kobe. Nothing he said is wrong either. He never said that he would take him over MJ, he just said skill wise they are equal. It was other intangibles that put Jordan over the top, but on the court their game is basically the same. I don’t know about you, but Kobe is not a bad guy to want to model your game after. I think Durant is doing just fine.
