This is very interesting. According to a recent study, eating a lot of meats and cheeses during middle age is as deadly as smoking. The study that comes from the University of Southern California, published in the journal, Cell Metabolism, elaborates that “consuming high levels of animal proteins could be detrimental to a person’s health.” Hit the jump for more info.
According to study author, Vanc Longo: “Eating a hamburger, or other forms of animal protein, elevates levels of the growth hormone IGF-1 in the human body. In children, IGF-1 helps promote growth and development – but in adulthood, high levels of the hormone have been linked to an increased risk for cancer and other age-related disease.”
Despite this discovery regarding animal-based proteins, the study proved that plant-based protein don’t carry this risk.
