Damn! When it comes to rewarding it’s countries own athletes, the United States doesn’t have a thing on Russia! As we all know the winter Olympics just completed in Sochi, Russia and the country is very proud of it’s athletes that won medals. Not just Gold medals either. Even if you won a Silver or Bronze medal you were handsomely rewarded. Hit the jump.

Russian athletes who won gold medals at the Sochi Winter Olympics have each been rewarded with a Mercedes GL-Class SUV worth $146,500. Silver medallists were given the keys to Mercedes ML-Class, worth $99,500, and bronze medalists will take home a Mercedes GLK-Class, worth $59,500.
You think that is a great reward right? They weren’t finished. Each athlete was also given $200,000 dollars! Needless to say winning a medal was definitely a huge come up for these athletes. A few of the medal winners are not even old enough to drive yet, and the country has given them a driver until they are of age. I can only imagine how fierce the competitions will be between Russian athletes to make the next Olympics knowing the kind of gifts that might await them if they win a medal.
