Wow. A community of chimps that run up to 10,000 bodies deep have began to eat leopards. Researchers have marked the vast community’s commonplace with numerous motion-activated cameras to record their actions and it’s pretty intense. Hit the jump for more info.
According to one source, “Gangs of males were seen patrolling their territory and mothers showed their young how to use tools to eat swarming insects.” They further went on to say that despite the many other animals around, that they have seen absolutely no human activity, making the location one of the last untouched wildernesses of Africa.
“One camera even recorded its own destruction as it came under attack from a leopard, but all two dozen cameras were nearly lost when poachers invaded the area and burned the researchers’ camp.”
Apparently, in order to thrive and maintain a growing population, the chimps added leopard and giant snails to their menu.
