Wow, it’s now been 20 years since one of the most influential albums in, not only hip-hop but ALL of music, was released; “Illmatic.” To celebrate the album that established Nasir Jones as an elite writer and hip-hop icon, the artist, along with Sony Legacy will be releasing a special 20th Anniversary Edition titled, “Illmatic XX.” In addtion, Nas has also announced a U.S. Tour. Speaking on Illmatic, Nas says, “I didn’t think about it. I just did it. I believe everybody has good instincts. Now I’m a man from that past and I’m supremely grateful. There’s a Nigerian proverb ‘What is past is prologue’. I’m here today because of Illmatic.”
The 20th Anniversary Edition will include two CDs (or 1 LP) that will include a remastered version of the original on the first disc, while the second disc will host previously unreleased demos and rare remixes.
As far as the tour, Nas will be traveling, performing Illmatic from front to back.
