Nets guard Deron Williams told reporters Sunday he plans to play Monday after missing several weeks with the injured ankle that’s limited him the past two seasons.
Williams spent a week in a boot, and had cortisone injections on top of PRP plasma treatment. He’s had trouble with the ankle since the 2012 Olympics when he suffered the injury. Team USA officialls said his weight may have contributed to it.
Williams had similar treatment on the ankle last year at the All-Star Break, and it lead to the best sustained streak of play since he joined the Nets in 2011. We’ll see if this breeds similar success. Williams is averaging 13.6 points and 6.9 assists
Brooklyn is 9-13 with Williams in the lineup this season.
The Nets will be playing the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Both teams have shown improvement since the new year started and the battle of New York has now become more interesting.
