The luxury, Strand Condominium on W. 43rd St. became the scene of disaster, when the 20th floor of the building set a blaze! Building owners and supervisors gave little to no instruction on what to do, causing for the chaos to spread amongst running tenants seeking safety. Two have been reportedly hospitalized because of the aftermath of the fire, one was pronounced dead, while the other hospitalized in critical condition.

“A police source said a 27-year-old who suffered from cardiac arrest during the fire was pronounced dead at Roosevelt Hospital later in the day. A 32-year-old suffered smoke inhalation and was in critical condition.”

Although tenants were instructed to stay in their apartments, many fled at the sight of the fire, hoping to seek safety, yet some were subjected to more harm by doing so. The incident took place at 11 a.m. and took a total of 150 firefighters and 1 and forty minutes to put out the flames.
