Jay Z is by far one of the most influential Hip-Hop moguls to ever exist. However, could Hov be tainting his reputation and losing respect due to his recent business endeavors? After Jay’s decision to link up with Samsung to release his latest album Magna Carta Holy Grail, a survey of over 1,000 milennials showed that the people were NOT at all pleased by Hov’s decision. It ranked at #2 for the least popular celebrity marketing deal among consumers aged 13-31 for the 2013 year.
According to celebrity branding expert Jeetendr Sehdev, Mr. Carter “scored 70% lower in the categories of trustworthiness and honesty than did celebrities like Morgan Freeman and Jennifer Lawrence, an issue Sehdev chalks up to Jay’s intense focus on making money seemingly however he can.”
People are also questioning the validity in Jay Z’s lyrics, along with the never ending question if he actually writes his own songs. According to Sehdev, “Millennials question the exact nature of Jay Z’s role in the artistic process. Does he really write his own songs? Is he choosing the artists to collaborate with, or is he just the face of a money-making empire?”
Do you think Jay is still the same ol’ G? Or has the money changed him into a completely different person causing him to lose popularity? (Even though in all honesty, that man has so much money that I’m SURE he does not care.)
