A report made it’s rounds that if the Dallas Cowboys fail to win the NFC East and make it to the playoffs then owner and general manager Jerry Jones would fire head coach Jason Garrett. Well Jones who’s always stood behind Garrett, came out himself and gave Garrett another vote of confidence.
Jerry Jones had this to say about Garrett’s job security, “He has a bright future with the Cowboys,” he told 105.3 The Fan.
“In Jason’s case, at this time in his career, he’s learning leaps and bounds and learning literally everyday. I want our team to take advantage of that. There’s been nothing in the time he’s been a head coach, nothing in the time he was a coordinator and a player before that, that shows that he does not have the ability to do everything required to be a coach in the NFL. That’s the basis on how I feel the way I do.”
Although Garrett’s job might be safe, he has quite the task ahead of him. On Sunday night the Cowboys will face the Eagles for the NFC East crown. The Eagles have been red hot led by quarterback Nick Foles and the Cowboys may be without their star quarterback Tony Romo. While numerous reports say Romo has a herniated disk that will require surgery, Jones maintains that Romo has back spasms and isn’t ruled out of the game yet. I’ll guess we’ll see what happens as the game has been moved to primetime SNF.
