Along a 20 miles stretch in Colorado, public shootings are becoming too familiar. Today, an unidentified student opened fire at Arapahoe High School, looking to kill a teacher and ultimately taking his own life. 12 miles east of this location is the infamous Columbine High School, where Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold left a bloody massacre in 1999, killing 13 people and then themselves. 14 miles east of Arapahoe High School, is Aurora – the town that suffered from a public shooting, a little over a year ago, during a midnight showing of “Dark Knight” by the hands of James Eagan Holmes. The story, the details, the suspects – all eerily similar reports in the news. One question that is being asked repeatedly is, “what is going on in Colorado”? This is what Beverly Kingston, the director of the Center of for the Study and Prevention of Violence at the University of Colorado, said in a statement:

“This kind of mass shooting is still relatively rare, but we can do a lot better job as a nation of putting comprehensive preventive measures in place. Someone usually knows something. There’s a real way to prevent these things from happening.”

Prayers to Colorado and Arapahoe High School.
