Besides the fact that I fun with people AT Twitter, I’m not sure I really GAF about the blocking policy. I mean I rarely block anyone, as everyone has a right to their opinion, and I’m not shook of ANYone on the social media platform, But the person that has started a Change.org petition has a great point for those that are not in my frame of mind.
If your account is public, blocking a user does not prevent that user from following you, interacting with your Tweets, or receiving your updates in their timeline. If your Tweets are protected, blocking the user will cause them to unfollow you.
Change.org member, Zerlina Maxwell, started this petition because she wants the ability to not look over her twitter shoulder and worry about who is stalking tweets, she states it’s not enough to just not see the person you block if they can still know everything you do as you’re living your digital social life. The Blockee still having the ability to RT you to their ‘ppls’ who might be in the same ‘traded’ mind set as them and showing them who to harass at a moments notice. And if you’re not able to defend yourself or just not in that train of thought(which you shouldn’t have to be), then this may very week be problematic, and to be honest, there is a lot of nervousness online now! So if you feel the need, head over to Change.org and sign the petition!
