Isn’t this scary? On Sunday night, Heat baller Roger Mason Jr. (former Knicks guard) & his sister were among the victims of an armed robbery in Miami. Thank goodness everyone is ok & all of the items were recovered. Find out what happened & what they took from Mason after the jump…
Via NYDN:
Mason, 33, who played in 26 games for the Knicks during the 2010-11 season and now plays for the Heat, had his Rolex stolen by four men who robbed customers at the Ni.Do.Caffe on Biscayne Blvd.
Mason was dining at the mozzarella bar on Sunday with his sister when the four men stormed into the restaurant. His sister had her purse stolen by the gun-toting thieves.
A Miami Police spokesperson Frederica Burden said shots were fired but that no one was hit before the men fled the scene.
Both Mason’s Rolex and his sister’s purse were later recovered as Miami police tracked down the rented Cadillac Escalade used by the robbers on Monday. Two men were arrested.
“Everything is recovered,” Burden said according to WSVN.com. “It is very rare and we think the public actually gave us information, the people that actually witnessed the robbery and the way our detectives responded to it, it turned out perfect.”
The Miami TV station reported that the group is believed to be responsible for several armed robberies in the area. Two suspects are still at large.
“It was a scary moment,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra told the Sun-Sentinel. “We talked about it as a team. Thankfully, they came out of it (unharmed). You have to count your blessings sometimes. There are so many unpredictable things that can happen when you think you’re just going out for a nice dinner. Thankfully, everybody is safe and two of the people have been caught.”
