The injury bug hit the Brooklyn Nets earlier than expected and it’s come at the expense of their star point guard, Deron Williams.

On the same day he returned from a two-game absence because of a sprained left ankle, Williams re-injured his fragile ligament after landing on Bobcats guard Kemba Walker during a listless 95-91 defeat. Williams fell to the floor and limped off the court, returning to hit two free throws before the Nets ruled him out with a sprain.
Who knows if Williams will ever make good on that $100 million contract and resemble anything close to an All-Star? So far, he has been overpaid and injury-prone.
Brooklyn folded without Williams and the injured Brook Lopez, losing for the seventh time in eight games. Walker nailed two free throws with six seconds remaining to seal the defeat.
It’s still quite early in the season but a 3-8 start is definitely not what anyone had in mind when this super team (and expensive team) was formed. Although some of it is beyond his control, coach Jason Kidd is coming under more scrutiny with each loss.
