According to the New York Daily News via Robinson Cano’s agent, CAA’s Brodie Van Wagenen, Jay Z will be involved in contract negotiations for the Yankees star free agent.
“That has been true for the last six months and it’s certainly true now,” Van Wagenen said Sunday in an appearance on MLB Network Radio on Sirius/XM. “Jay is a very, very successful businessman who has a keen understanding of value, a keen understanding of brands and a keen understanding of what this player, Robinson Cano, wants to accomplish for his career.
“He’s been at the table both in strategy sessions in preparation and he absolutely has and will continue to be involved with the actual negotiations with the potential suitors.”
I have a feeling Jay will find a way to make the Yankees come up on their offers. However I do not believe Hov himself could make the team pay the $310 million Cano is looking for. Something is going to have to give.
