IFWT Nene

It’s still very early in the season but the Wizards aren’t playing as well as many had hoped.  They were without star John Wall for much of last season and were hopeful with him back and the squad they have now that things would be better.  With a 2-6 record after a 92-79 loss to the Spurs, Nene had enough.

As the visiting locker room at AT&T Center emptied, with most of his Wizards teammates having already headed to the bus, Nene slowly dressed. Slouched back, head lowered in disgust, the Brazilian big man was having a difficult time digesting the Wizards’ latest loss to the San Antonio Spurs, a 92-79 defeat that was the most lopsided of the young season. … “Our young guys must take their heads out their butts and play the right way because I’m getting tired of this,” Nene said after the game while praising the unselfish play of the Spurs. … “They help each other. It’s amazing the way they play, simple basketball. I wish our young guys who think they know a lot of things, who think they are smart and they just got in the league. What make me mad, after a game like that, they look at stats.”

We’ll have to wait and see if this outburst helps turn things around or if it causes a rift in the locker room.  The Wizards were projected to be one of the teams to make it to the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.  Luckily for them they’re not alone in their slow start; the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets have faltered as well.
