A South Georgia deputy sherif has been suspended without pay for his idea of a funny costume involving inmates and blackface, hit the jump for more!
Georgia Deputy Sheriff, Chad Palmer has been suspended after a photo surfaced of the police official covered in black paint imitating blackface, dressed in a worn, jail like uniform. The insensitivity and pretty much full blown disrespect came with his pose in the photograph and explanation of his tacky costume, allegedly telling people at the private party that “he was dressed as a Camden County inmate, and was “picking cotton” in the photo.”
Although the Camden County Sheriff Jim Proctor expressed that he was shock ed of the photo, and felt that “it showed a lack of judgment and sensitivity,” in Palmer’s defense “he thought it was funny, it was a costume party.”
Residents are rightfully mad and unpleased with the officials actions and are looking for further consequences. Barbara King, a Camden County resident stated,
“When you are a law enforcement officer, you should hold yourself in a better position than that, To get at a party and discriminate against any inmate, any human being. Something needs to be done.”
