25-year-old Candid Doss reportedly called a Detroit Limo Party Bus that she found via Craigslist to book her mother’s birthday celebration with them. She claims during the phone call with the company, the call lost service and was dropped. Moments later, the company allegedly sent the African-American woman a racist text. The limo company apparently sent Doss a message saying, “Why do black people always just hang up…Is it an inherited thing to be rude? or is it because you were slaves for so long?” with a WWW.DetroitLimoPartyBus.com signature at the end of the message.
The Detroit native was outraged and explains how she never experienced racism first hand until this incident. “It never happened to me, or somebody that was just close to me, where I could feel what they feel. I feel what everybody feels now, I mean, it’s just like – when is it gonna stop?” Doss stated.
WTF! Stories like this boggle my mind because it’s disgusting that people could seriously be so ignorant and racist in 2013. Do you think somebody from the company was really stupid enough to send a text like that?
