I am sorry, but did I miss something here? Or do General Managers from around the NBA know something we don’t? What is with the sudden trade interest on the Knicks part for Iman Shumpert? Do I understand that he is one of the only players on the roster that has trade value with his game and current contract? Yes I do get that. But I am feeling like something is going on behind the scenes in MSG with our wonderful *sarcasm* owner James Dolan. There was even a report today that said an anonymous member of the Knicks organization called Shumpert ” A head case”. Really? Out of the few players on the team that tend to bug out once in a while, someone tried to put Shump into that category? Earlier this week the Knicks tried to trade him to Denver for Kenneth Faried, which the Nuggets declined. Now there are reports of another possible trade. Hit the jump.

According to ESPN.COM
More and more folks around the league see some sort of Shumpert deal materializing sooner rather than later, given that he’s New York’s only real asset of value to make an in-season move and with the Knicks increasingly confident that they’ve got enough at the position to handle Shumpert’s exit now that J.R. Smith is back and with rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. looking good early. Word is that the Nuggets do have a level interest — just not if the Knicks keep asking them to part with Kenneth Faried in exchange — while Sacramento is also said to be gauging how Shumpert might fit in.
If the Knicks believe having Mr. Inconsistent JR Smith and rookie Tim Hardaway Jr are enough at that position to make Shumpert expendable then they are the ones with a head case. Hardaway has good potential, but he is far from a good defender and his shooting is very streaky. Smith is the same player who can help you win a game, and also be the same guy to lose a game for you. Not too mention what in the hell would the Kings offer the Knicks? Their roster is not exactly elite, although they do have DeMarcus Cousins and point guard Isiah Thomas. This franchise makes me scratch my head like no other. I still hope Shumpert remains in New York this entire season. But something is definitely odd about all of this.
