Last season this would’ve been considered a marquee matchup but with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce now on the Nets and Rajon Rondo out with a torn ACL, no one gave the Boston Celtics a chance at beating the defending champion Miami Heat. However that’s exactly what happened.
Dwyane Wade had a chance to ice the game at the free throw line, but missed two foul shots on the previous possession. The second of Wade’s attempts was intentionally missed, but because it didn’t hit the rim, it was a violation which allowed the Celtics to call timeout and set up a play for the game’s final shot.
Jeff Green hit a fadeaway three-pointer giving the Celtics the 111-110 win over the Heat and absolutely stunning everyone in the arena.
