WTF is wrong with people. The most insane sounding stories are no longer surprising anymore because we see crazy time and time again. This story comes from upstate New York where a man admitted yesterday to killing his own son for $700,000 in insurance money. It gets worse because it may not be the first time he has done this. 53-year-old Karl Karlsen’s guilty plea to second-degree murder came as a surprise a day before his trial was set to open. He had pleaded not guilty the entire time leading up to his trial date, but decided to change his plea the day before it started.
Karlsen was charged with murder and insurance fraud in the death of his son Levi. Prosecutors say Karlsen killed the 23-year-old in 2008 by toppling a truck on him as he worked underneath. Karlsen was sole beneficiary of Levi’s insurance policy.
Karlsen’s wife was killed in 1991 in which he also received an insurance payout and police are now opening an investigation into his wife’s death as well. Karlsen has always said he has nothing to do with that. Based on this story though would you believe him?
