Kobe is a very smart man when it comes to dealing with the media. Even if you set him up to answer a bad question, he will find a way to get out of it, or make sure his point got across. So when a reported asked him what he felt Dwight would do in Houston, he answered the way only Kobe can. Hit the jump.

“I think he’ll have a great year,” Bryant said of Howard. “He’s always very determined to be more of an offensive player. Here in Houston he’ll have the opportunity to do that. He always wanted to compete with some of the all-time greats, the Chamberlains and Shaqs and Olajuwons and so forth. This year should be the year where he starts putting up those kind of numbers — 25, 26 (points per game), stuff like that.”

At first glance it sounds like he said nice things. But if you know Kobe, you know he is always trying to make a point. Mentioning those great centers and averaging 25 points a game are two things Kobe doesn’t even think Dwight will do himself. Just wanted to make a point that now since he is in Houston he has no reason as to why he can’t perform like that. Kobe will just sit back and watch for the fail.
