This is a crazy story, but true. After the impact David Ortiz had on the Red Sox winning the world series, it seems his popularity is at an all time high. The city of Boston loves him, there is no doubting that, but nobody would of guessed they loved him this much. Hit the jump.

Ortiz obviously was not running for mayor of Boston, but to his surprised he finished third in voting this week. Third!! that is crazy. He finished ahead of some people who actually were trying to win the race, although it was only really a 2 person race to begin with. The others had no chance. Papi received a bunch of write in votes to make this specific mayoral election pretty cool.
