Just hours after shots were fired in the Garden State Plaza mall, the gunman Richard Shoop was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in an area behind the Westfield Garden State Mall in Paramus New Jersey. The body of 20-year-old Shoop was discovered at 3:20 a.m. this morning. It is said that he was found in a sub-storage area of a Foot Locker. Only one person was killed, which was the shooter himself. He had no plans of shooting anyone at the mall, as he had plenty of opportunities to. The mall will be closed today, Garden State Plaza officials say. We will have more as the story unravels.
I can’t even begin to explain how sad this story is to me. I knew the kid personally, just spoke to him last week and he really seemed like the last person to do something like this. I do not agree with the actions he took or condoning his behavior but I’m sorry to him go. Wish I could help all the troubled minds out there. RIP.
