The Brooklyn Nets hosted the Miami Heat for their home opener on Friday night. There were plenty of storylines leading up to the highly anticipated game including Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett’s Brooklyn debut and their well known hatred for Lebron James. Well the Nets also have another addition to the team in Andrei Kirilenko and he also had something interesting to say.
The Nets’ Kirilenko was speaking to the New York Post about the toughest guys to guard and he said Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant over LeBron James because LeBron might pass.
“For me, personally? I would say Kevin Durant and Kobe [Bryant], because they’re very motivated to play with the ball,” Kirilenko said. “LeBron is way unselfish, and he will pass it as soon as the guy is open.
“Kevin and Kobe, unless the guy is wide open, like wide open and ready to shoot, they will keep going at you. They’ll keep going at you. That’s why it makes it harder to play against those guys.”
While most of us may be saying he’s crazy or lying it really is all about his perspective. He’s actually guarded all 3 players so he would know which one is the hardest to guard in his opinion.
The Nets defeated the Heat 101-100 in an exciting down to the wire game. Lebron James finished with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in 42 minutes. Andrei Kirilenko finished with 8 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist in 12 minutes off the bench.
