A popular Denver restaurant chain has been linked to an E. Coli outbreak that has hit the Denver area, affecting at least 8 people, hit the jump for more!
At least 8 victims have been reported to have suffered from an E. Coli outbreak after eating sandwiches at a Jimmy Johns eatery in the Denver area. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration have been investigating the outbreak in order to find the root of origin of the contaminated meat.
“Our leading hypothesis for what’s happened is that there was a contaminated produce item that was distributed to the stores,” stated Alicia Cronquit, an epidemiologist with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. She continued, “We have not identified any food handling issues at the particular establishments that we think would contribute to illness.”
The restaurants are not being closed, nor “publicly identified”, because the restaurant chains “are not believed to be at fault”.
