On Thursday night, gunfire erupted on Randall Ave. between a man and six officer in the Castle Hill Housing Development in the Bronx. A total of 17 bullets were fired by the officers, who were responding to an 911 emergency call regarding gun shots in the area at 11 p.m. Witnesses report that the suspect fired his guns at the officers first, but Police Commissioner Kelly is still trying to verify the information. A .45 caliber gun was found by the body of the dead victim, as well as shell casings. Commissioner Kelly said in a statement:
“The suspect then ran off and the witness said “he fires at the police officers again. The individual runs to a third location. During his flight, officers are firing shots. A total of 17 shots were fired by six police officers who responded.”
No motive for the gun fire by the suspect is known. Police are still working to confirm witnesses’ reports.
