The Alex Rodriguez saga continues with more allegations coming forward. This time A-Rod is accused of buying evidence from the Biogenesis clinic that could have been used against him.
Now battling his 211-game suspension from Major League Baseball, Alex Rodriguez is being slammed by new allegations.
According to the New York Post, A-Rod’s side testified this week to paying $305,000 for Biogenesis evidence, something that would boost MLB’s contention that the New York Yankees superstar tried to interfere with its investigation into his alleged use of banned drugs.
Biogenesis is the disgraced now-shuttered company that manufactured and distributed banned growth and strength drugs to a number of athletes.
The Post is also reporting that MLB reps likewise paid to acquire paperwork from Biogenesis, documents they believed would support its case against A-Rod.
An MLB spokesman is denying that charge, saying that the allegation isn’t even “relevant to the real issue: whether Mr. Rodriguez violated the Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.”
A-Rod continues to deny that he took any of the banned substances, and his attorney is denying that his team paid for paperwork that would have proved otherwise.
“The notion that we paid any money for any Biogenesis documents is patently false, and anyone who is leaking this information knows it’s false,” Joseph Tacopina told the Post.
Rodriguez has also filed a lawsuit against MLB, claiming the organization that controls pro baseball is ruining his career.
