Kobe Bryant changed his twitter avatar and it has everyone speculating as to what it really means. There’s a couple of ideas floating around, read more after the jump.
Kobe put the numbers “1225” as his avatar. One idea is that 1225 signifies the Christmas Day game the Lakers will play against the Miami Heat. That could be Kobe’s return to the court after suffering an Achilles injury. That would make sense but I just don’t see Kobe sitting out that long. I know the significance of an Achilles’ tear but Bryant has made significant progress and he’s determined to return to the court as soon as possible.
Another possibility revolves around the ESPN NBA player rankings. They caused an uproar recently when Kobe fell to the 25th spot after being ranked 12th last year. The Lakers as a team were picked by ESPN experts to finish 12th in the Western Conference out of 15 teams, likely due to the same uncertainty that surrounds Bryant’s return.
This seems to make more sense. We all know how determined Kobe is and he might be using the avatar as motivation to prove the doubters and “experts” wrong.
