It’s been 22 years since the disappearance of the little girl better known as “Baby Hope,” whose identity has just been discovered a week ago. The child’s mother spoke out from behind her Elmhurst, Queens apartment door for the first time ever in regards to her daughter’s tragic death.
Margarita Castillo said in Spanish, “I want to thank the people who praying for my daughter. We are never going to have peace. We are just waiting for justice.”
Anjelica Castillo was reportedly “sexually assaulted, smothered and stuffed inside a cooler,” according to police reports. The little girl’s body was dumped along the Henry Hudson Parkway almost two decades ago in 1991 by her cousin, 52-year-old Conrado Juarez. He came out and confessed to killing the little girl after nobody from her family ever came out to publicly mourn for her.
Juarez was charged with felony murder this past Saturday. Juarez pleaded not guilty and was remanded to custody. More updates on this story on the way as they come in.
