The New York Giants season already is bleak as they’re currently 0-6 but things have taken another bad turn as running back David Wilson’s neck injury could be more severe than originally suspected. Read more after the jump.
One positive to emerge from the Giants loss to the Bears was the resurgence of running back Brandon Jacobs, who rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns about a month after the team signed him as a free agent off the street.
And it sounds like the Giants might need him going forward.
With David Wilson out with a neck injury suffered last week, the second-year running back gave reporters some chilling news Friday, saying he’s afraid he might miss the rest of the season.
Wilson said he’ll seek a second opinion Monday, but he said doctors are telling him he might have spinal stenosis.
According to the Mayo Clinic, “Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the open spaces within your spine, which can put pressure on your spinal cord and the nerves that travel through the spine. Spinal stenosis occurs most often in the neck and lower back.”
Wilson said doctors have told him one of his vertebrae is situated too closely to his spinal cord. But the running back also said it was possible he could return in time for the team’s Week 7 matchup against the Vikings.
