The injury bug has attacked the Portland Trailblazers yet again and this time it’s their rookie guard CJ McCollum. He broke his left foot on Saturday at practice and will have to undergo surgery. Read more after the jump.
Back in January, Lehigh guard C.J. McCollum broke his left foot and missed the remainder of the season. At the time, he was leading the nation in scoring at 25.7 PPG. Despite the injury, the Portland Trail Blazers were confident enough in his abilities to select him with the 10th overall pick.
Unfortunately, the rookie broke the same foot — the same bone, in fact — during practice on Saturday and will require surgery to repair the damage. The team announced that a timeline for his recovery won’t be known until after the procedure is completed.
I hope he has a safe and speedy recovery. I and other NBA fans alike were looking forward to what he and Damian Lillard would bring to this refreshed Trailblazers team.
