This is how to throw your quarterback under the bus 101. Apparently there’s one thing the Giants and Jets have in common and that’s their star wide receivers throwing blame on their QB’s. Recently Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks said he couldn’t throw the ball to himself after racking up a grand total of zero catches. After the Jets blowout loss to the Tennessee Titans, Holmes echoed the same sentiments after he totaled just one catch for 25 yards. Read more after the jump.
”I can’t throw it to myself and catch it, otherwise I would,” Holmes said of the 38-13 loss to the Titans last Sunday, when he had one catch for 25 yards. “I played 49 plays, and all I know is I had one catch. That’s all I can attest for.
The receiver got snippy when asked what he saw from Smith against the Titans. “What do you mean what did I see from him? I saw that we lost the ballgame,” said Holmes, who has 10 catches this season, but has been thrown to 24 times.
Now Holmes could’ve blamed his lack of production on his hamstring injury but instead he chose to shine the light on his rookie quarterback Geno Smith. Speaking of hamstring injuries, Holmes later on said it was hurting and there’s a chance he may miss the game on Monday. Yea he could’ve said that first…
“My hamstring feels like it hurts,” Holmes said. “If it makes sense, that’s exactly how it feels right now. Holmes wouldn’t officially say he’ll be out on Monday, but later intimated he would be when he said this is the first hamstring injury he has had that will cause him to miss a game.
