Although the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards aren’t scheduled to air till October 15th, word is that it was a MC Lyte and Kendrick Lamar take over as all eyes were on them for the night!

The Hip Hop legend, and female revolutionary MC Lyte admitted that she was extremely nervous hitting the stage after being honored in a video tribute that included Will Smith, Jada Smith, Queen Latifah, while Eve finally presented the mogul with her award.

AP reports: “She urged the female rappers who have come after her to continue to shine and push the genre forward. “Please keep the dream alive, I am with you,” she further stated.

Eve also honored MC Lyte by stating: “She set the precedent for female freestylers,””I’m truly, truly honored. She has meant so much to me in my career.”

But when all eyes weren’t on MC Lyte they were on the Top Dawg Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick received some subliminal shots by NY natives as French Montana and Diddy hit the stage! French Montana performed “Aint Worried Bout Nothin” alongside boss man Diddy, where Frenchie went as far as placing a crown on Diddy’s head, letting everybody know who really runs NY.

Kendrick’s response? A smile and applause at the jab, classic K.Dot. The west coast native also gave a lengthy 4 minute freestyle during the award show leaving everyone with an applauding ovation!

Snoop Dogg took hold of the hosting gig and was his apparent “ultra-smooth self driving onto the stage in a blue 1964 Chevy Impala with hydraulics to start the show. He also used the platform to show off his YouTube network called GGN (Double G News), featuring interviews with rapper 2 Chainz and comedian Luenell”

Other highlights of the night included: Kevin Hart teasing Floyd Mayweather Jr. for his apparel. The spoof set up of him and his “Real Husbands of Hollywood” cast members, of them rapping in a BET like Cypher.

Drake took home the People’s Champ award and “Bone Thugs-n-Harmony performed “Thuggish Ruggish Bone,” “First of the Month” and “Crossroads.” Juvenile made a surprise appearance with 2 Chainz. Rick Ross took the stage with Future, performing “No Games.”
