A Wisconsin mother, Angelica Belen, was sentenced to 18 years in prison for the deaths of her three children, whom she locked in a bedroom. Belen reasoned that it was necessary because she didn’t have a babysitter and needed to go to work, a job her family greatly depended on. The bad mom explained how she was raised in an abusive home and found safety behind locked doors, thus locking her children in a bedroom. While she was gone, a fire that was sparked by bad wiring in the kitchen set the home ablaze. Five year old Nayali Colon and four year old twins, Alexis and Adrian Colon met their untimely deaths during the fire. The judge sympathized with Angelica Belen for being a victim of abuse as a child and also struggling to raise four children on her own. After being sentenced, the distraught mother apologized repeatedly to her family and children.
May the Colon children rest in peace. Yes, their mother may have failed them BUT so did the rest of their family. Stop child abuse. The never ending cycle, affects more lives than you think!
