When a 10-year-old girl in Northern California woke up to find blood in her underwear, she and her parents just thought she was experiencing her first period. The family doctor was called and the bleeding was told to be “consistent with menstruation.”
However, after the bleeding and extreme pain was still going on the next day, her parents then performed a “full body inspection.” They then realized the little girl had been shot in her sleep by a drive-by shooting after discovering the entry wound.

According to the doctors, the would was tiny and very easy to miss if they were not looking for a bullet wound. The Hayward police have yet to discover a motive for the shooting and have no suspects, but they believe the family might have been targeted.
